- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Mix-ins:
- ¾ cup (130 g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- Optional: ½ cup (60 g) chopped nuts (e.g., walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Mix the Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. Prepare the Wet Ingredients:
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Add the melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the bananas. Mix until well combined.
4. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips (and nuts, if using).
5. Bake the Bread:
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- If the top starts browning too quickly, tent the bread loosely with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
6. Cool and Serve:
- Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature!
